Certified mediators in Florida must complete16 hours of CME every two years in order to maintain their certification. The requirements are as follows:

1. As part of the 16 hours all mediators must have 4 hours of mediation ethics and one hour of diversity education;

2. Circuit and County mediators must also have 2 hours of domestic violence education;

3. Family and Dependency mediators must also have 4 hours of domestic violence education.

Florida Bar (CLER) courses count toward CME if applicable to your mediation practice.

The following courses offered by Charles N. Castagna Mediation, Inc., each provide 8 hours of CME credit including 4 hours of Ethics, 2 hours of Domestic Violence, 1 hour of Diversity and 1 hour of general CME. The courses also provide 7.5 hours of CLER credit including 4.5 hours of Ethics, 1 hour of Business Litigation Certification, 3.5 hours of Civil Trial Certification and 5.5 hours of Marital and Family Law Certification.

Morning - An analysis and discussion of the Standards of Conduct governing mediators in Florida as well as the relevant Rules of Civil Procedure, ethical marketing and business practices, and selected Mediator Ethics Advisory Committee (MEAC) Opinions.

Afternoon - Diversity and Domestic Violence Segment

DVD or live presentation and group discussion of issues surrounding diversity and domestic violence in mediation.

8 hours of CME including 4 hours of ethics, 1 hour of diversity, 2 hours of domestic violence and 1 general hour.

Approved by the Florida Bar for 7.5 hours of CLER including 4 hours of ethics.
